The Avenida de Maceo (more commonly known as the Malecón) stretches for five miles along the Havana coastline, from the mouth of the harbor in historic Havana to the neighborhood and business district of El Vedado.

Originally constructed to shield Cuba's coastal capital from the ocean and the elements, the Malecón has become a popular promenade for fishermen, tourists, and residents of Havana.
